The Colossal (but Unspoken) Role of Nutrition in Behaviour & How to Feed Raw by Dr Conor Brady

The Webinar, as described by Dr Conor Brady:
It was during my time with Guide Dogs ten years ago when I was first alerted to the
fact that all may not be well in respect of dry food and "good" dog behaviour.
Specifically, it was after a meeting with the CEO of a Guide Dog that had recently changed approximately 219 dogs to raw feeding. Among many other health benefits, the dogs were better able for their work. Exactly how or why may still elude us today but we have a lot more answers than we did ten years ago.

The fact remains, dog behaviour has never been a consideration of pet food manufacturers. Ever. They are not required to monitor this. When we look at some of the ingredients used (or not used!) in kibble, this requires urgent revision.
The literature is rife with studies documenting the power of food to alter, stoke or soothe human behaviour. Unsurprisingly, we are finding the majority of these compounds work in a similar fashion in dogs.
In this lecture, we discuss the top culprits in ultra-processed food for negatively impacting training in dogs. We begin by examining the pivotal role a healthy gut flora plays in keeping our heads happy and the role raw dog food has in maintaining this process. After that, we take a quick trip through the pro's and con's of various vitamins, minerals and proteins that are currently employed (including the tryptophan delusion), as well as explaining the role of carbs, fats and chemicals, and describe a number of fascinating canine nutrition studies that highlight how important each of these are in your dogs daily intake.
We conclude with some base-line nutritional tips should you be faced with a problem dog.
About Dr Conor Brady, BSc. PhD. Anim. Behav.
"After college, I spent five years in guide dogs as a pup supervisor and guide dog trainer. It was while I was working in Guide Dogs in Australia that the true powers of raw feeding came to light. That was 14 years ago.
The time since bar a couple of years as a producer myself, I have spent as a full-time writer, speaker and dedicated advocate for natural canine food and health, much of which you can find at my website www.dogsfirst.ie.
As a dog lover and keen researcher, the subject fascinated and consumes me, providing me with near bottomless rabbit holes that demand exploration.
I live with my wife and daughter in Wicklow, Ireland and am proud father to a slightly odd blue roan cocker called Dudley.
What he lacks in brains and finesse he makes up with single-minded determination, though that statement is equally true for both of us."
